Social Venture Group
The mission is to increase the amount of and improve the effectiveness of targeted financial and other forms of giving to philanthropic opportunities in China by advising foundations, corporations and individual donors. SVG seeks to advocate for NGO capacity building & sector development through project analysis, assessment and due diligence of local projects, and building a community of investors who share a vision for investing in social causes in China for the 21st century.
Grace Chiang has been living in China since 2003 and has a solid track record of fundraising for Chinese social causes. Prior to co-founding SVG, she was Senior Manager of Strategy and Business Development for one of China's top semiconductor foundries and IP design houses located in Shanghai. Before moving to Shanghai, she worked as a financial analyst in Citigroup's Global Corporate & Investment Bank in New York City, focusing on risk assessment. Since 2004, Grace has been actively involved with orphan issues in China. She led a team of 20 Chinese on a medical mission to an orphanage in Anhui in 2006. She is fa graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.
Qifang
Qifang is a web service for Chinese students to find a way to pay for their education. Using a person-to-person lending and donation model, Chinese students use Qifang to connect to individuals, companies and organizations that can support their educational dreams. Qifang is also an online community for learning financial literacy and finding career development opportunities like internships, mentoring and jobs. We are proud to be recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Technology Pioneer; the first company from China to win such recognition, joining notable visionary companies like Google, Wikipedia and Mozilla.
Calvin Chin is the co-founder and CEO of Qifang, China's leading online student loan service. Calvin is a serial entrepreneur who has over fourteen years of experience in start-ups in New York, Silicon Valley and Shanghai. Calvin also advises and gives talks to companies, entrepreneurs and students on startup strategy, management, fundraising and marketing. Calvin has an MBA from TRIUM (NYU, LSE, HEC Paris) and a B.A. from Yale University.
Shokay
Shokay, the world's first lifestyle brand focused on the yak, features adult accessories, kidswear, and home collections hand knit from fine yak down. Shokay prides itself not only in its classic and modern designs, but also its social impact. It's yak down, comparable in warmth and softness to cashmere, is hand combed by Tibetan herders; most of the products are hand knit by women in rural areas of China. Shokay can now be found around the world in over 10 countries, but Shanghai is its home. Beyond the usual Shokay knits, the two stores in the city each has its unique offering: at the Taikang Lu flagship, you can sign up for a walking tour in the historical Shanghainese lane houses and learn to finger knit a scarf in 10 minutes; at the Sheraton Hongqiao store, you can have a taste of yak cheese at the Bauernstube Deli next door!
