活动描述

Opportunities for Sino-Latin American Trade and Investment

This panel will explore the emerging trends and opportunities for cross-border investment and international trade. According to the Chinese central bank Governor ZHOU Xiaochuan in a report released by Bloomberg.com, exports to China, Latin America’s third largest trading partner, continue to rise amid the global economic slowdown, providing a financial cushion for the commodity-producing region as domestic demand, tourism and remittances from the U.S. and Europe collapse. China-Latin America trade has seen 30% annual growth since 2001, with total trade reaching $140 billion as of 2008.

The growth of trade and investment between the two regions is large, yet still is small in comparison to trade between the United States and Latin America. This provides ample opportunity for healthy growth in the coming years between these two powerhouse regions. The intentions of Chinese expansion in Latin America is also coupled with the need to secure natural resources to fuel China's rapid growth. A balance between healthy growth and national security acquisitions is essential to building stability.

This panel discussion will explore the growing Sino-Latin trends, cross-border legal considerations, and the constantly evolving challenge of maintaining friendly government relations.

This event is ideal for those directly involved in Sino-Latin business operations in both hemispheres. The panel discussion is open to all interested parties who are seeking deeper working knowledge and legal technicalities of the promising growth of Sino-Latin American relations.
